Williamstown Theatre Festival 2019

Williamstown Theatre in USA has announced a festival season of 2019 featuring five premiers. These five premiers will cover performances by Uma Thurman, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jane Kaczmarek, S. Epatha Merkerson, and more. This theater has been promoting art since the year 1954 and the festival holds the title of being a winner in Tony Awards 2002 and 2011 Massachusetts Cultural Council Commonwealth.

The artistic director Mandy Greenfield shared a statement regarding the launch of this festival in 2019. In a duration of only eight weeks, the festival will unveil some of the most outstanding yet remarkable theater makers in USA and the world will be able to feel the intensity in their lives. Since the script shows some magnificent work done by the playwrights of the Western theatrical cannon. The season will start off with the play “A Raisin in the Sun” on June 25 till July 13 by Lorraine Hansberry. The story is about a black family who resides in the city of Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood back in the era of 1950s. Leading cast of this play is S. Epatha Merkerson and Francois Battiste, while being directed by one of the most outstanding directors of all time Robert O'Hara.

Next premier show will be of Bess Wohl's Grand Horizons featuring from July 17 till July 28. The play revolves around a French couple, who lives a happy married life since the past 50 years but suddenly the play comes to a twist when the couple land in the eponymous senior living community. The characters leading this play are Mary Steenburgen and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and it is directed by Leigh Silverman. The season continues with the premier of Ibsen's Ghosts from 31st of July to 18th of August. The story is translated by Paul Walsh, acted by Uma Thurman and is directed under the guidance of Carey Perloff. The story revolves around a mother who interferes, when she catches her son who returns home and is caught flirting with their family maid.

The festival follows with the premier of Jonathan Payne's “A Human Being of a Sort” which will be held from 26th of June till 11th of July. The story covers true incidents of an African American lawbreaker assigned with protecting a Congolese pygmy in the Bronx Zoological Park in the period of 1906. The play will be directed by Whitney White. Sylvia Khoury's Selling “Kabul” will be premiered on the 10th of July till 21st of July. It is a drama about a former linguist of the military of USA existing while hiding from the Taliban. The cast featuring this play are Omar Metwally, Marjan Neshat, and Babak Tafti under the directorship of Tyne Rafaeli.

After this the next featuring premier will be of “Tell Me I'm Not Crazy” on July 24th to 3rd August. This play has a comedy story by Sharyn Rothstein focusing on a man's purchase of a firearm and how the two generations of his family opposes the fact that what values does sacrifice and success hold in America in the current era. The play will be directed by Stuelpnagel and the cast will include Mark Feuerstein, Jane Kaczmarek and Nadine Malouf.

The entire festival in USA will end with the premier of “Before the Meeting”, which will be held from 7th Aug to 18th of August. It is a story of a recovery of a woman when her separated grand -daughter opens her old wounds.
